What We Do

FAQ

  • What types of repairs are performed by Dr. Furniture?

All of the repairs we perform are done on-site in the customer’s home or place of business. The repairs we deal with most often result from moving/delivery damage, manufacturing defects, pet damage, accidents and general use and/or abuse. There are certain repairs that require too much time or are not generally conducive to an in home repair. In those instances we will provide a referral to an upholstery shop or a full service refinishing shop.

  • What do manufacturer’s warranties typically cover?

In general the warranty on new furniture will cover defects in craftsmanship and materials for one year from the date of delivery. This typically covers any parts and labor charges required to make repairs to the damage or defect. These warranties do vary from manufacturer to manufacturer so be sure to inquire with the retailer or go to the manufacturer’s website to get complete details before making a purchase.

  • Does Dr. Furniture guarantee their work?

Yes. We guarantee our workmanship for one year from the date of service.

  • Does Dr. Furniture provide furniture-cleaning services?

No. Other than minor spot removal we do not offer furniture cleaning or maintenance services.

  • How do “extended warranties” work?

Most of these programs are designed to protect against accidental damage and do not extend the original manufacturer’s warranty. These programs are often a good idea if there are young children or pets in the home. Be sure to read and understand the literature that comes with the purchase of such a program. It should clearly state what the plan covers and, more importantly, what it does not cover.

  • What do I do if my furniture is delivered damaged?

If possible it is best to inspect your new furniture as best you can as soon as it is delivered. If this can be done before the delivery team leaves that is best as you can note it on the paperwork that you will be asked to sign. Take pictures of the damage and ask the delivery team to do the same. Call the retailer to report the damage as soon as you can to arrange for a service visit to assess the situation and determine what steps need to be taken to make repairs.

  • Who does Dr. Furniture work with?

Our clients include individual consumers, moving companies, furniture manufacturers and many local retailers (see the scroll at the bottom of this page).

  • I recently bought upholstered furniture, but my seat cushions are already softening and wrinkling. Is this normal?

You should expect your seat cushions to soften 15-20% during the first few months of use. Once they reach this state the amount of further softening is marginal. It is important to flip and rotate your cushions regularly.
